Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made a public appeal for direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, suggesting they meet in a neutral third country to discuss a resolution to the ongoing conflict. Zelenskyy proposed venues such as Switzerland, Turkey, or an Arab nation for these critical talks. He emphasized that only direct dialogue between the two leaders could address the key issues at the heart of the war and urged for a specific date to be set for this meeting.

As part of his diplomatic overture, Zelenskyy expressed Ukraine’s willingness to initiate a full ceasefire during the negotiations. He also proposed an all-for-all prisoner exchange as a means to build trust between the two nations. Additionally, he called for the return of Ukrainian civilians and children who have been displaced due to the conflict.

This proposal comes amid ongoing military actions from both sides. Russia continues to step up its aerial bombardments in Ukraine, while Ukrainian forces have been carrying out long-range drone strikes within Russian territory. The situation remains tense as each side seeks to gain an advantage on the battlefield.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has expressed support for the potential meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin, noting that successful negotiations would require concessions from both parties to reach a peaceful settlement. The Kremlin has acknowledged receipt of Zelenskyy’s proposal, although Russian officials have indicated that they have yet to conduct a detailed review of the offer.
