Saudi Arabia and South Korea have solidified their commitment to enhance collaborations in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and technology investment. This development came during a series of high-level discussions in Seoul, where Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Al-Swaha, along with Communications, Space and Technology Commission Governor Haytham Al-Ohali, engaged with senior South Korean officials.
The talks primarily centered on fostering innovation, bolstering the digital economy, and advancing Saudi Arabia’s objective to establish itself as a global leader in artificial intelligence. The Saudi officials discussed potential collaborations in AI, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure, emphasizing how these initiatives could support economic growth and technological development.
Moreover, the discussions also delved into the enhancement of digital government services. Both countries are exploring partnerships in areas such as unified government platforms, digital identity systems, and leveraging AI to improve public services. There is a particular interest in strengthening the cooperation between Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority and South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior.
Additionally, Al-Swaha held a meeting with the founder and CEO of APL Ventures to explore investment opportunities, support for Saudi startups, and strategies to expand their global market presence. This is part of a broader strategy to attract high-value investments and encourage technology investment within the Kingdom.
This visit underscores Saudi Arabia’s strategic efforts to establish robust global technology partnerships, aiming to accelerate the development of an AI-driven digital economy and position the country as a central technology hub.
