South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met with Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of Abu Dhabi, to strengthen bilateral ties between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting, held at Cheong Wa Dae on Friday, emphasized expanding cooperation in various sectors, including defense, artificial intelligence, and nuclear energy.
President Lee underscored the significance of the agreement made during his state visit to the UAE last November, aiming for a long-term partnership. He expressed gratitude for the UAE’s prioritization of crude oil supplies to South Korea earlier in March, highlighting the evolving nature of their collaboration.
Al Mubarak, conveying greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reiterated the UAE’s view of South Korea as a close partner. He noted the expansion of their cooperation beyond traditional areas such as energy and infrastructure, into fields like investment, space exploration, healthcare, and education.
In the discussions, President Lee called for enhanced communication between officials from both countries to transform their cooperative efforts into tangible projects, further building on mutual trust. The visit sets the stage for potential high-level talks, with a summit in South Korea possibly on the horizon next month.
