Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of enlisting foreign fighters from 47 different countries to bolster its military efforts against Ukraine. During an address at the United Nations, Zelensky highlighted that individuals from nations such as Ghana, Nepal, and India have been involved in the conflict, underscoring Moscow’s reliance on international manpower.
Zelensky pointed to the capture of two North Korean soldiers fighting on behalf of Russia, who have since been transferred to South Korea, as evidence of Russia’s growing military collaboration with North Korea. He warned of Moscow’s ongoing attempts to secure additional resources and personnel for its war effort.
In response to these developments, Zelensky revealed that Ukraine is enhancing its technological capabilities through increased cooperation with international partners on drone technology. Kyiv has already secured agreements with Finland and Australia and is in the process of negotiating a similar pact with Canada.
Amid escalating tensions, Zelensky cautioned that Ukraine might target Russian heating and energy facilities if Moscow continues its attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure during the winter months. This statement comes as the United States has called on both Russia and Ukraine to refrain from targeting each other’s energy infrastructure.
The Ukrainian president clarified that any strikes on Russian energy-related facilities by Kyiv are aimed at diminishing Moscow’s war revenues rather than disrupting civilian fuel supplies.
