South Korea’s national women’s soccer team has achieved its highest FIFA world ranking in over three years, climbing to 17th place. This advancement follows their impressive performance at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, where the team secured a bronze medal.
The South Korean team moved up two spots from their previous ranking, reaching 17th for the first time since June 2023. In the Asian rankings, South Korea is positioned fourth, trailing behind Japan, North Korea, and Australia. Notably, China fell to 18th place.
South Korea earned their bronze medal after a 2-0 loss to Japan in the semifinals, subsequently defeating China 1-0 in the third-place match. This victory marked the team’s first Asian Games bronze in eight years and their first win over China in 11 years.
Globally, Spain maintains the top spot in the FIFA women’s world rankings, followed by the United States, Germany, England, and Japan. The final rankings for the year are set to be released by FIFA on December 7.
