Russia’s nuclear doctrine is not just theoretical but “a possibility” if an “existential threat” arises, Ambassador Denis Alipov warned this week in the context of the Ukraine war.
This possibility, he argued, is the reason Russia cannot be defeated. “You can’t, you know, take over us in this conflict simply because of nuclear weapons,” he stated.
The ambassador’s comments come as the war approaches its fourth year, with Ukraine heavily supported by billions in military and economic aid from the US and its allies.
Alipov dismissed the Western strategy, calling European hopes for a Ukrainian victory “childish behavior” and “unprofessional.”
He also claimed that President Donald Trump “understands that this war is lost by Ukraine and the West,” setting him apart from the “belligerence” he attributes to European nations.
